Background

My own journey has brought me to this point. Many people and many experiences along the way have inspired my decision to practice psychotherapy full-time. I have worked as a psychotherapist and psychologist for about 10 years in various contexts including the Student Counselling Centre (UKZN), King George V Hospital, and in private practice. I have most recently worked as a lecturer on the staff at UKZN, School of Psychology, in the areas of Child Development, Child Psychopathology, Play Therapy, and Psychotherapeutic Intervention Skills. I have been very involved over the years in the training of psychologists at internship level and supervision beyond the internship training level is a special interest of mine.

My areas of special interest in relation to practice have varied over time and I have included a list below for your reference but I am most interested in working with people who value the `inner journey' and are looking for a `space' and a means of bringing psychological healing into their lives, be this individually or in the context of an intimate relationship (couples). Making the decision to enter into psychotherapy is never an easy one but it is a really important means of taking care of the self.

Areas of Special Interest

  • Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Depression, Anxiety, etc
  • Post-Traumatic Stress
  • Play Therapy for Children (under 12yrs) - More about Play Therapy.
  • Midlife Transitions or Life Transitions
  • Bereavement
  • Couple Therapy
